Merzci Pasalubong: Bacolod's Pride

Christmas is fast approaching and many Filipinos abroad are coming home to spend Christmas with their loved ones. Usually, they would buy “pasalubong” to those they have left behind since it’s not everyday that you get to eat Filipino treats when you’re in another country. Look no further and buy those goodies at Merzci Pasalubong, which is at the forefront of the pasalubong food industry.

History

Merzci is a family business that started in 1995 under the trade name Merci, a French word meaning “thank you.” A market brand of CM & Sons Food Products Inc., the business has grown from being a small bakery selling bread in Libertad Market, Bacolod City into an establishment with more than 50 branches.

Among the favorites are Biscocho which is a baked bread topped with either condensed milk or butter; Barquillos, a rolled wafer stick snack; Piaya, a flat bread stuffed with muscovado-based syrup; Meringue, a baked delicacy made of confectioner sugar and whipped egg whites; and Napoleones, a sweet pastry that sandwiches custard filling in the middle and topped with a sugar glaze.
