Opportunities For CENECO Employees: Apply For Hiring At Negros Power

Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) is encouraging Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) employees to apply for positions within their workforce as they prepare to operate electricity distribution in Central Negros. This joint venture between CENECO and Primelectric Holdings, the parent company of Negros Power, offers an opportunity for CENECO employees to continue working in the electric distribution utility.

Partnership and Franchise Approval

The lower house of Congress has approved House Bill 9805, granting Negros Power a franchise to operate electricity distribution in Central Negros. This legislation opens the door for a joint venture between CENECO and Primelectric Holdings. Under this partnership, Negros Power will acquire CENECO’s distribution assets for 70% cash and 30% share. The aim is to settle debts, refund consumer bill deposits, and fulfill separation obligations to the employees outlined in their collective bargaining agreement.

Priority Consideration for CENECO Employees

CENECO employees are given priority consideration for positions within Negros Power’s workforce. However, it is important to note that there is no automatic rehiring provision according to Negros Power President Roel Castro. Employees who wish to continue their employment must formally apply to express their interest. This ensures that those who are genuinely interested and committed to the new distribution utility company have the opportunity to be considered.

Application Process

To apply for a position at Negros Power, CENECO employees must submit their applications. As of now, over 200 employees have already submitted their applications and are currently being processed. Castro has stressed the urgency of preparing the workforce for a smooth transition and has instructed the Human Resource Department Manager to promptly initiate the hiring process.

Benefits of Applying to Negros Power

President Roel Castro encourages CENECO employees to consider applying to Negros Power, highlighting the value of their skills and familiarity with the industry. By joining Negros Power, employees can continue their careers in the electric distribution sector, utilizing their expertise and contributing to the company’s success. It is an opportunity to grow professionally and be part of a new and dynamic organization.

Future Operations

Negros Power aims to commence operations in Bacolod, Bago, Silay, Talisay, and the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto. However, this can only happen once the franchise law is approved by the Senate and the Energy Regulatory Commission grants the Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity. The approval of the franchise law and the subsequent commencement of operations will provide new employment opportunities for those interested in the electric distribution utility sector.

As Central Negros prepares for this transformative change in its electricity distribution landscape, the partnership between CENECO and Negros Power stands as a testament to collaboration, ensuring a sustainable and efficient power supply for the province’s residents. The encouragement for CENECO employees to explore opportunities within Negros Power further exemplifies the commitment to retaining local talent and expertise during this pivotal transition.
