Electricity Rates Down: Negros Power Cuts 55 Centavos Per kWh This June

In a move that offers timely relief to thousands of households and businesses, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) has announced a notable drop in electricity rates this June 2025. Consumers across Central Negros will see a reduction of 55 centavos per kilowatt-hour (kWh), easing the financial pressure of everyday utility expenses.

Effective this month, residential customers will be billed at ₱11.14 per kWh — down from ₱11.69 in May. For an average household consuming 200 kWh, this translates to a savings of approximately ₱110, enough to cover basic needs like groceries, school supplies, or transportation costs.

In a public statement, Negros Power emphasized that the rate cut is a reflection of its continuing commitment to affordability and consumer welfare. “We are fully aware of the day-to-day struggles many families face. This reduction is our way of helping consumers breathe a little easier,” the company stated.

The lower rates are not random. They are largely attributed to strategic energy procurement and improved operational efficiency. Notably, the company’s ongoing rehabilitation of power lines and other infrastructure upgrades have started yielding measurable results. The system’s feeder loss rate dropped from 8.28% to 8.03% this month, reflecting reduced power wastage and better energy delivery.

For commercial customers, rates are also adjusted as follows:

  • Low Voltage: ₱11.18 per kWh
  • High Voltage: ₱10.09 per kWh

Negros Power reiterated that its mission goes beyond providing electricity — it aims to be a true partner in the community’s progress. “Our role is not only to power homes and businesses, but also to support lives. Every improvement we make is geared toward delivering reliable and affordable electricity,” the statement added.

Looking ahead, the company plans to continue enhancing its systems and adopting advanced power management technologies to sustain efficiency and affordability. Consumers can expect ongoing improvements in both service quality and pricing as Negros Power works to deliver on its modernization and service commitment.
