Negros Power Cuts Electricity Rates In February 2026
Electricity consumers served by Negros Power will see lower power bills this February following a significant reduction in rates. The adjustment is expected to provide meaningful financial relief to households and businesses, particularly amid ongoing economic pressures.
For February 2026, the average residential electricity rate decreased to ₱11.44 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), down from ₱13.10 per kWh in January. The ₱1.66 per kWh reduction will be reflected in the current billing cycle. For a household consuming around 200 kWh per month, this translates to estimated savings of about ₱322.

Lower Generation Costs Drive Reduction
The primary reason for the rate decrease is the substantial drop in generation costs, which make up a large portion of the total electricity bill. A key contributor was the sharp decline in prices from the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). Market rates significantly fell after power plants in the Visayas Grid resumed normal operations and synchronized supply, resulting in improved electricity availability and lower trading prices.
In addition, rates from Green Core Geothermal Inc. (GCGI) were reduced following the implementation of its updated base rate for 2026. Together, these changes led to a notable decrease in the overall generation charge, more than compensating for minor increases in other components of the bill.
Minimal Impact from Other Charges
While there were slight increases in transmission charges imposed by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and adjustments in the Universal Charge for Missionary Electrification (UCME), their combined effect was relatively small compared to the significant drop in generation costs.
As a result, the overall rate adjustment remains favorable for consumers this month.
Updated Rates for Other Customer Categories
Aside from residential customers, other consumer groups will also benefit from lower rates. For February 2026, the average rate for Low Voltage (LV) customers is set at ₱11.50 per kWh, while High Voltage (HV) customers will pay ₱10.41 per kWh.
A Positive Development for Consumers
The February rate reduction highlights how improvements in power supply conditions and market performance can directly benefit electricity users. Lower generation costs, particularly in the spot market, demonstrate the impact of stable grid operations on overall pricing.
For consumers, the adjustment offers welcome savings and underscores the importance of a well-functioning energy system in delivering affordable and reliable electricity service.
