Negros Power Supports Local Farmers Through Livelihood Assistance Program
Negros Electric and Power Corp. (Negros Power) is strengthening its support for local agriculture by providing livelihood assistance to farmers in Bacolod City through its Roots of Hope: Farmers’ Livelihood Support Program.
The initiative was conducted on August 25, 2026, at Purok 18, Barangay Alangilan, as part of the company’s second anniversary activities. It benefited the Alangilan Granada Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Farmers Association, Inc., providing resources intended to support their farming activities and improve productivity.
Among the assistance provided were various vegetable seeds and seedlings, including corn, balatong, okra, ampalaya, pipino, kalabasa, talong, tomato, bell pepper, and hot pepper. The farmers’ association also received crates and a canopy to help support their agricultural operations.
The activity was attended by Negros Power Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Engr. Joe-Mel Zaporteza, Barangay Alangilan Captain Roy Retiza, Barangay Granada Captain Armando Vito, Negros Power employees, and members of the farmers’ association led by its president, Renato Parohinog.
More than providing immediate agricultural supplies, the program aims to help farmers build more sustainable sources of livelihood. Access to seeds and other farming resources can help communities continue agricultural activities while supporting productivity and long-term livelihood development.
The Roots of Hope program reflects Negros Power’s broader efforts to support communities beyond its role as an electricity provider. By investing in livelihood initiatives, the company seeks to contribute to stronger and more resilient communities.
The activity was part of Negros Power’s second anniversary celebration carrying the theme “Growing with the communities we serve,” underscoring the company’s continued focus on community development and sustainable livelihoods.
