Negros Power Celebrates First Anniversary With Free Surgical Mission In Partnership With World Surgical Foundation Philippines

Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) marked its first anniversary with a meaningful celebration that went beyond its core service of providing electricity. From August 12 to 15, 2025, the company organized a four-day surgical mission at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) in Bacolod City, in partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP).
A Continuing Mission of Care
This initiative was the second surgical mission spearheaded by Negros Power, following its first outreach at Valladolid District Hospital. Staying true to its “Ikaw ang Una” campaign, which emphasizes consumer and community welfare, the company once again placed people at the center of its celebration.

A total of 17 patients — mostly children — underwent free, life-changing procedures. Surgeries performed included herniotomy, rectal biopsy, posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP), pull-through surgeries, and colostomy closures. These operations, often costly and inaccessible for many families, have given young patients the chance to live healthier, brighter futures.
Collaboration and Volunteerism
The mission was made possible through the combined efforts of 35 dedicated individuals composed of medical professionals, volunteers from Manila, ORNAP Dumaguete members, and the WSFP advance team. CLMMRH doctors, nurses, and staff also played a vital role in ensuring that patients received complete and safe medical care.

Their teamwork highlighted the value of partnerships in delivering not only reliable energy but also essential healthcare services to Negros Occidental communities.
Voices of Gratitude
Families of the beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to access specialized surgeries at no cost. For many of them, such procedures would have been financially out of reach.

“This mission reflects Negros Power’s heart for the community,” said Maricel Pe, Assistant Vice President for Customer Care and Marketing. “Through our partnership with the World Surgical Foundation Philippines, we are not just providing electricity — we are empowering lives, one surgery at a time. As we celebrate our first anniversary, we remain true to our promise: Ikaw ang Una — our people will always come first.”
A Promise for the Future
Negros Power emphasized that its role as a distribution utility extends beyond supplying electricity. Through initiatives like the surgical mission, the company shows its commitment to uplifting communities in meaningful ways. With the support of WSFP and other partners, Negros Power hopes to make these medical missions a regular part of its corporate social responsibility programs.
As Negros Power looks ahead, it carries forward its vision of not only powering homes and businesses but also strengthening lives through care, compassion, and community-centered initiatives.
