Negros Power Keeps Rate Increase Minimal Amid Rising Generation Costs

Residents of Central Negros will experience only a modest adjustment in their electricity bills this August 2025, as Negros Power announced that average residential rates will be at ₱11.50/kWh. This reflects an increase of ₱0.13/kWh compared to the previous month’s ₱11.37/kWh.

Shielding Consumers from Higher Market Prices

The adjustment comes at a time when the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) posted a substantial jump in generation charges. Market rates rose from ₱4.88/kWh to ₱5.46/kWh, or an increase of ₱0.58/kWh. Despite this surge, Negros Power was able to limit the impact on end-users through effective supply management and strategies designed to mitigate cost fluctuations.

Consumers in different classifications will see the following rates for August 2025:

  • Residential: ₱11.50/kWh
  • Low Voltage: ₱11.56/kWh
  • High Voltage: ₱10.47/kWh

Commitment to Stability and Transparency

Negros Power underscored its ongoing commitment to protecting households from unpredictable energy market movements. By balancing generation costs and optimizing procurement, the utility company continues to cushion consumers against what could otherwise be steep increases.

A Focus on Consumer Protection

For many families in Central Negros, even small changes in electricity rates can make a difference in monthly expenses. Negros Power assured the public that it will maintain its focus on transparency, accountability, and sustainable supply management, ensuring that consumers are not unduly burdened by the volatility of the power sector.
