Negros Power PaKAPE Program In Talisay City Strengthens Ties With Barangay Leaders

Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) recently brought its PaKAPE Program to Talisay City, gathering barangay officials and community leaders for a productive dialogue focused on electricity services, public awareness, and stronger local cooperation.

Held on April 16, 2026, at Minuluan Hall, the activity was attended by 27 barangay captains and officials from different parts of the city. The event served as an avenue for direct communication between the distribution utility and local government representatives, allowing both sides to discuss concerns and possible solutions related to power services.

Promoting Cooperation at the Community Level

One of the key discussions during the program centered on the company’s System Loss Reduction Program. Presented by Engr. Edwin Montemayor, the session explained the importance of reducing electricity losses in the system through public cooperation, tighter monitoring of illegal connections, and continuous improvement of power facilities.

System loss remains an important issue for electric utilities, as it can affect efficiency and operating costs. By involving barangay leaders, Negros Power aims to strengthen awareness and encourage community participation in protecting the integrity of the power network.

Updates on Ongoing Improvements

Negros Power also shared updates on its current projects and service enhancements. These include upgrades to distribution facilities, faster restoration response during outages, and closer coordination with local government units.

Such improvements form part of the company’s broader efforts to provide more dependable and efficient service to consumers across its franchise area.

Positive Response From Local Leaders

Barangay officials welcomed the initiative, recognizing the value of being directly informed about programs that affect their communities. The event also gave participants the opportunity to raise questions and better understand the role of local leaders in supporting electricity-related initiatives.

“Dako gid ini nga bulig sa amon nga mga barangay officials kay mas naintindihan namon ang mga programa sang Negros Power, labi na gid sa system loss. Sa amo nga bahin, handa kami magbulig sa pagpaabot sang impormasyon kag sa pagpatuman sang mga pamaagi agud mapabaskog ang serbisyo sang kuryente sa amon lugar.” — Hon. Jenalyn Magbanua, Barangay Captain of Brgy. Dos Hermanas

This type of engagement helps create a stronger partnership between service providers and communities, particularly in addressing issues that require local coordination.

Building Stronger Communities Through Dialogue

The PaKAPE Program reflects Negros Power’s continuing commitment to transparency, collaboration, and consumer education. By opening communication lines with barangay leaders, the company is able to better understand concerns on the ground while sharing updates on important programs.

As Negros Power continues its operations in Talisay City and neighboring areas, initiatives like this demonstrate how community partnerships can contribute to improved services and more informed consumers.
