Negros Power Ramps Up Emergency Readiness Ahead Of Typhoon Tino

As Typhoon Tino approaches the Western Visayas, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) has elevated its operations to Red Alert, implementing its full contingency plan to ensure readiness across all service areas. The proactive measure underscores the company’s strong commitment to public safety, service reliability, and rapid response during severe weather events.

To prepare for potential impacts, Negros Power has mobilized all field and command center personnel for 24/7 operations. Mobile warehouses have been activated to support logistics, while sleeping quarters have been prepared at company facilities for crews on extended duty.

The contingency deployment covers Bacolod, Talisay, Silay, Murcia, Bago–Ma-ao, and Don Salvador Benedicto (DSB), with a total of:

  • 36 Response Teams (RT)
  • 9 Quick Response Teams (QRT)
  • 14 Line Teams (LT)
  • 8 Support Crews (SLP Team)
  • 12 Support Crews (Metering Team)
  • 12 Line Inspectors
  • 6 Metering Inspectors

Each unit is fully equipped with motorcycles for quick-response operations, four-wheel vehicles for mobility, and bucket trucks for efficient line repair and restoration.

To ensure systematic power restoration, Negros Power will follow a Restoration Prioritization Matrix, focusing on the following sequence:

  1. Subtransmission Lines
  2. Substations
  3. Feeder Backbone Restoration
  4. Hospitals and Medical Facilities
  5. Emergency Services (fire stations, police, BJMP, and government offices)
  6. Whole Blocks with No Power
  7. Single Residences
  8. Non-Power Related Concerns

Negros Power also assured consumers that 24/7 customer hotlines will remain operational throughout the typhoon. The company’s social media channels are likewise monitored by a dedicated response team to accommodate inquiries and outage reports in real time.

Meanwhile, the Key Accounts and Community Relations (ComRel) teams are working closely with local government units and critical establishments to secure continuous service and enable immediate restoration efforts when needed.
