Negros Power Reduces Electricity Charges For May 2025 Billing Cycle
Central Negros households can expect some financial relief this May, as Negros Power announces a significant drop in residential electricity rates. Starting with the billing cycle from May 16 to June 15, electricity consumers will see reduced charges in their monthly statements.

For May 2025, residential rates have been lowered to Php 11.6958 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), down from Php 12.3563 per kWh in April. This Php 0.6605 per kWh decrease offers tangible savings for local households. For example, a home consuming 200 kWh in a month can expect to save around Php 132.10 on their next bill — funds that can be reallocated to other essential expenses.
What’s Behind the Price Drop?
Negros Power attributes the rate adjustment to the following key factors:
✔️ Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) prices fell by Php 1.1585/kWh, reducing the cost of sourced energy.
✔️ A Php 0.2085/kWh decrease in charges under the Emergency Power Supply Agreement (EPSA) with Palm Concepcion Power Corporation (PCPC) also contributed to the drop.
✔️ Transmission charges were also reduced due to:
- A Php 2.82/kW cut in Power Delivery Service (PDS) costs
- A Php 29.31/kW reduction in Ancillary Service charges
These collective cost savings have allowed Negros Power to pass on the benefits directly to consumers.
Updated Electricity Rates for May 2025:
- Residential: Php 11.6958/kWh
- Low Voltage Customers: Php 11.7575/kWh
- High Voltage Customers: Php 10.7054/kWh
Consumer-Centric Energy Management
Negros Power emphasized that this rate reduction reflects its ongoing efforts to manage power procurement costs and deliver affordable, transparent service. The utility provider remains focused on ensuring that all consumers — whether households or businesses — enjoy fair and reliable energy pricing.
As the region continues to grow and demand for electricity rises, initiatives like these provide much-needed support to communities working to manage their budgets more effectively.

Looking Ahead
With the new rates taking effect this May 16, customers across Central Negros can look forward to lower bills and more breathing room in their monthly finances. Negros Power assures the public that it will continue to monitor energy market trends and work toward cost-effective solutions for the benefit of its consumers.
