Negros Power Marks First Anniversary With Coastal Cleanup In Talisay City

As part of its first anniversary celebration, Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental stewardship by leading a coastal cleanup drive in Talisay City on August 2, 2025. This initiative is one of several under the company’s ongoing “Ikaw Ang Una” campaign, which prioritizes consumer welfare and active community engagement.
Community in Action: A Joint Cleanup Effort
The cleanup was held at Purok Tayabas, Barangay Zone 15, drawing participation from 75 volunteers. The group included employees of Negros Power, personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and local residents supported by the Bantay Katunggan, a coastal protection team based in Talisay.

Working together, the volunteers were able to collect 15 sacks of marine debris, which were sorted for proper disposal and recycling:
- 7 sacks (approx. 110 kg) of recyclable materials
- 5 sacks (approx. 70 kg) of non-recyclables
- 3 sacks (approx. 40 kg) of broken glass and tiles
This effort highlights not only the environmental challenges facing coastal communities but also the importance of collaborative action in addressing them.
Ikaw Ang Una”: Uplifting Lives Through Service and Sustainability

The cleanup activity is part of Negros Power’s “Ikaw Ang Una” initiative — a flagship campaign that places customers and communities at the heart of every program. While the company is best known for delivering electricity to Central Negros, it also sees itself as a partner in community development and environmental responsibility.
“We recognize that our responsibility as a utility provider goes beyond delivering electricity,” said Maricel Pe, Assistant Vice President for Customer Care. “It includes being a catalyst for positive change in the communities we serve.”
She emphasized that the company’s customer-first approach includes not just reliable service, but also safety, sustainability, and inclusive community efforts.
More to Come This Anniversary Month
The Talisay coastal cleanup is only one of many activities lined up as Negros Power marks its first year of operations. Throughout August, the company will continue rolling out programs that reflect its core values: service excellence, environmental awareness, and consumer care.

Through events like these, Negros Power not only reinforces its presence in the province but also builds meaningful connections with its stakeholders — proving that power companies can help energize not just homes and businesses, but also community spirit and environmental responsibility.
