Negros Power To Strengthen Grid Reliability With ₱192M Investment In Mobile Substation
Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) is moving forward with its five-year development plan by allocating ₱192 million for the acquisition of a 37.5-megavolt ampere (MVA) mobile substation, a key investment that will help ensure stable and reliable electricity supply in Central Negros.

President and CEO Roel Castro announced the plan during a press briefing marking the company’s first anniversary, emphasizing that the mobile facility is expected to be operational by May 2026.
Why a Mobile Substation Matters
A mobile substation serves as a temporary but fully functional replacement when existing substations are taken offline for maintenance or upgrades. This ensures that consumers continue to receive uninterrupted power, even when critical facilities undergo servicing.
“This new mobile substation will support the growing demand for power in Central Negros while also helping us minimize disruptions during maintenance works,” Castro explained.

Ongoing Infrastructure Upgrades
The investment forms part of Negros Power’s broader strategy to modernize its network under its development program. Alongside the mobile substation acquisition, the company is set to complete several infrastructure projects this year, including:
- Mountain View Substation Upgrade (₱25 million) – scheduled for completion this September to improve system efficiency and reliability.
- Transfer of Mountain View 12 MVA to Murcia Substation (₱10 million) – targeted for November to strengthen power supply in Murcia and neighboring areas.
These projects highlight Negros Power’s proactive approach in addressing both short-term reliability concerns and long-term capacity growth.
A Commitment to Reliable Service
The ₱192-million investment underscores Negros Power’s dedication to its consumers in Central Negros. By investing in modern facilities like the mobile substation, the company aims to stay ahead of power demand, reduce risks of outages, and provide a more dependable electricity service.

As the company enters its second year of operations, Castro assured consumers that the improvements will continue: “Our priority is to make sure the people of Central Negros experience the benefits of reliable and sustainable power supply. This mobile substation is just one of the many steps we are taking.”
Looking Ahead
Negros Power’s focus on upgrading its infrastructure reflects its long-term vision of building a stronger and more resilient power distribution system. With projects already underway and larger investments in progress, consumers can expect a future where reliable electricity becomes a cornerstone of growth and development in Central Negros.
