Bago City Recognizes Negros Power For Power Restoration Efforts After Typhoon Tino

The City Government of Bago has recognized Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) for its contribution to the city’s disaster response and recovery efforts following the impact of Typhoon Tino.

The recognition was presented during the Pasidungog kag Pagkilala ceremony held on July 1, 2026, at the Community Center in Barangay Poblacion, where the company received a Certificate of Appreciation from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC).

Recognition for Disaster Response

The award acknowledged Negros Power’s efforts in restoring electricity to affected communities after Typhoon Tino caused widespread power interruptions across parts of Central Negros.

According to the City Government of Bago, the utility played an important role in helping restore an essential public service despite the difficult conditions brought about by the typhoon. The recognition also highlighted the company’s support for local government disaster response initiatives and its continued commitment to community welfare.

Restoring More Than Electricity

Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Engr. Leomel Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning and Business Operations of Negros Power, thanked the City Government of Bago for recognizing the dedication of the company’s personnel.

He noted that the recognition belongs to the employees who worked tirelessly in the field, often under challenging and hazardous conditions, to restore electricity and assist communities in recovering after the storm.

Tambanillo also acknowledged the support and cooperation of local government partners throughout the restoration efforts, emphasizing that strong coordination is essential in responding effectively during emergencies.

Strengthening Community Partnerships

The recognition reflects the continuing partnership between Negros Power and the City Government of Bago in promoting disaster preparedness and building more resilient communities.

Rapid restoration of electricity is an important part of disaster recovery, allowing homes, businesses, healthcare facilities, schools, and other essential services to resume operations after major weather disturbances.

The company said it remains committed to strengthening its emergency response capabilities to ensure faster and more efficient restoration efforts during future emergencies.

Commitment to Reliable Public Service

Negros Power emphasized that restoring electricity goes beyond repairing damaged infrastructure. It also helps communities recover, rebuild, and return to normal after disasters.

As extreme weather events continue to pose challenges to power systems, the company reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing emergency preparedness while maintaining reliable service for the communities it serves.

The recognition from the City Government of Bago serves as a testament to the value of collaboration between local government units and utility providers in ensuring that communities receive timely assistance and essential services when they are needed most.
