Seasonal Events
The Smyrna Spring Jonquil festival is held twice a year, in spring and the fall. Admission is free. The festival features activities for children, such as arts and crafts booths. Your family can also enjoy a variety of foods for a low price and buy crafts made by over 150 artisans.
The fall also features Taste of Smyrna, where food from over 30 area restaurants can be sampled for low prices. Children will enjoy the Kids Zone with inflatable structures.
Visiting a Restaurant
Dining out with the family is always fun, especially during a family trip. Of course, Smyrna has numerous family-friendly restaurants, but some of them are so popular that they require reservations. However, there are other highly-rated restaurants that always have open seats.
One highly rated eatery in the area is Scalini’s Italian Restaurant. It has family meals for take-out, but if you want to eat at the restaurant, your kids can order from the kids’ menu and enjoy some dolci (sweets).
Another good restaurant for families is El Sol Mexican Bar and Grill. There are plenty of booths and tables there, and your family can enjoy Mexican Cuisine with a Cuban twist.
A Popular Trail
While in Smyrna, you can ride bicycles or walk for a few miles down the Silver Comet Trail, a popular 61.5-mile expanse that starts in Smyrna and meets up with the Chief Ladiga Trail of Alabama. The trail includes part of a former railway, yet there is no automobile traffic. You’ll have the road to yourselves, and you won’t have to bring bicycles with you because you can rent some before starting on the trail.
Skating
Would you like to go roller skating? Visit the Sparkles Family Fun Center, which has a large skating rink and allows patrons to bring their own skates (or rent them). Your family could spend hours there, because Sparkles also has an indoor playground and an arcade.
Kid-Friendly Hotels
While you’re staying in Smyrna, you will need to find a good hotel in the city so you can stay close to all the attractions there. You have options because some hotels are built for families. If you plan on visiting Smyrna in the summer, you can find great deals for hotels that have amenities like swimming pools and tennis courts.
Whether you go skating, ride bikes, or experience the local flavors of the city, there is much to do in Smyrna that you and your kids will enjoy. Keep these activities in mind as you’re planning your trip to the Jonquil City.
