Negros Power Adjusts September Bill Delivery Schedule Following ERC Price Cap Order
Consumers of Negros Power may notice a change in the delivery date of their September 2026 electricity bills. The company began distributing the bills on September 22, later than the usual schedule, as adjustments were being made following the implementation of the Energy Regulatory Commission’s (ERC) Secondary Price Cap (SPC) for the Visayas.
The change affects the timing of bill delivery, but meter reading will continue according to the regular schedule.
Why were the bills delayed?
The adjustment is connected to ERC Order No. 2026-048 MC, which introduced the regional application of the Secondary Price Cap in the Visayas.
The SPC is intended to manage the impact of unusually high electricity prices in the Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM). Because the order required changes in the computation of electricity charges, Negros Power adjusted its September billing process before releasing the bills to consumers.
What does the 54% figure mean?
The ERC order indicates an estimated 54% reduction in the average electricity price in the Visayas when the Secondary Price Cap is applied.
However, Negros Power clarified that this is a regional average, not a fixed 54% reduction that every consumer will see on their electricity bill.
The actual adjustment can vary depending on the consumer and the utility’s electricity supply and market exposure. The final figures are based on the settlement information from the Independent Electricity Market Operator of the Philippines (IEMOP).
This means consumers should not automatically expect their total electricity bill to be 54% lower.
What consumers need to know
Despite the later delivery of the September bills, Negros Power said that meter reading will proceed as scheduled.
Consumers will also receive an automatic extension of their payment deadline, based on the date their bill is actually delivered. This means customers will not be disadvantaged by the delayed release of their statements.
The adjustment is part of the process of implementing the ERC’s price-cap order and ensuring that the charges reflected in the September bills are properly calculated.
