Negros Power Rewards Silay Community For One Year Without Disconnections

A fiesta celebration in Hda. Imbang Mesa, Barangay Bagtic in Silay City became more meaningful this year as residents received a special reward from Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) after successfully maintaining a full year without power disconnections in their community.
The recognition highlighted the strong cooperation among households following the sitio’s inclusion in Negros Power’s Sitio Electrification Program, which brought reliable electricity service to families in the area.
Community Commitment Recognized
Last year, Negros Power challenged the residents of Hda. Imbang Mesa to maintain good standing in their electricity accounts and avoid service disconnections for one year. In return, the company promised to provide a special incentive during the community’s fiesta celebration.
True to its commitment, Negros Power awarded a cash incentive to the community during the fiesta held on May 8. Residents used the assistance to support their celebration and community activities.
According to Negros Power officials, the achievement reflects the importance of cooperation and responsible electricity use among consumers.
Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning, Business Operations and the Sitio Electrification Program, said the accomplishment showed how communities can benefit when residents work together and prioritize responsible energy consumption.
He added that the reward was not only financial assistance but also a symbol of appreciation for the trust and commitment shown by the residents of Hda. Imbang Mesa.
“We are very happy to see that the residents of Hda. Imbang Mesa valued this opportunity and worked together for one whole year without disconnections. This only proves that when the community cooperates, everyone benefits.” — Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo
Electrification Brings Progress to the Community
The sitio electrification project benefited around 120 households in the area. Under the program, Negros Power installed 32 electrical poles, nearly three kilometers of power lines, and two distribution transformers to provide safer and more reliable electricity access.
Before the project, many families had limited access to stable power service. The electrification initiative helped improve daily living conditions and supported the community’s development.
Beyond infrastructure, Negros Power also continues to encourage residents to become active partners in maintaining safe and responsible electricity usage within their communities.
Residents Express Gratitude
Community members expressed appreciation to Negros Power for fulfilling its promise and continuously supporting their sitio.
Residents shared that the assistance provided additional joy to their annual fiesta celebration, which this year also symbolized unity, discipline, and progress within the community.
“Dako guid ang amon pagpasalamat sa Negros Power kay gin tuman nila ang ila saad sa amon komunidad. Dako guid ini nga bulig sa amon fiesta kag isa man ini ka simbolo sang maayo nga pagbinuligay sang kada pamilya diri sa Imbang Mesa.” — Joshua Arsenal, resident of Hda. Imbang Mesa
For many families, the occasion became more than just a traditional celebration. It also marked a year of cooperation and the positive impact of having dependable electricity service.
Strengthening Community Partnerships
The experience of Hda. Imbang Mesa highlights how electrification projects can go beyond simply providing power connections. By encouraging collaboration between the utility company and consumers, programs like these help promote accountability, community participation, and long-term development.
As Negros Power continues to expand its Sitio Electrification Program across Central Negros, the company hopes to inspire more communities to practice responsible electricity use while working together toward safer and more reliable service for all.
