Bringing Power to Remote Communities

Around 30 households in Sitio Hibong now have access to electricity, providing residents with improved daily living conditions and new opportunities for growth and development.

For many families in remote communities, access to electricity plays a significant role in improving quality of life. It allows students to study more comfortably at night, helps residents stay connected through communication devices, and supports small businesses and livelihood opportunities.

According to Negros Power, the energization of Sitio Hibong forms part of its broader mission to reach more households that previously had limited or no access to stable electricity services.

Expanding the Sitio Electrification Program

Since the implementation of the Sitio Electrification Program, Negros Power has already energized 57 sitios across its coverage area, benefiting 2,703 households out of the 3,338 identified under the program.

The initiative currently covers communities in:

  • Bacolod City
  • Bago City
  • Silay City
  • Talisay City
  • Murcia
  • Don Salvador Benedicto

To support these electrification projects, the company has installed:

  • 803 utility poles
  • 66 distribution transformers
  • Around 66.9 kilometers of electrical conductors

These infrastructure developments were designed to provide safer, more stable, and more reliable electricity service to remote communities.

Investment in Rural Electrification

Negros Power disclosed that it has already invested more than ₱52 million for the implementation of the Sitio Electrification Program.

The company said the investment reflects its commitment to helping improve living conditions in underserved areas while supporting inclusive development across Central Negros.

Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo, Assistant Vice President for Planning, Business Operations and Sitio Electrification Program and spokesperson of Negros Power, emphasized that every newly energized sitio represents progress for local communities.

He noted that electrification goes beyond simply providing power, as it also creates opportunities for education, communication, livelihood, and community development.

“Every sitio we energize represents hope and progress for the community. Through these projects, we are not only providing electricity but also opening more opportunities for education, livelihood, communication, and better living conditions for our fellow Negrenses.” -Engr. Leomel H. Tambanillo

Supporting Community Progress

Residents of Sitio Hibong expressed gratitude following the energization of their community, noting the positive impact electricity is expected to bring to their daily lives.

Aside from improving convenience at home, access to electricity is also expected to help local residents strengthen small businesses and improve productivity within the community.

As Negros Power continues expanding its electrification efforts, the company said it remains focused on delivering accessible, reliable, and safe electricity services to more families across Central Negros.

Through projects such as the Sitio Electrification Program, the utility continues to support rural development while helping bridge the gap between urban and remote communities in terms of access to essential services.
